NICA Women’s Gathering
July 28-31 in Oakridge, Oregon
Presented by the Oregon and NorCal Interscholastic Cycling Leagues
Leadership and coaching - how do we reach our potential while holding authenticity at the forefront?
We have the power to change the way our future generations of girls experience this world. Let’s tap into that.
The NICA Women's Gathering is an immersive event bringing together women to share wisdom, find inspiration, and connect around best practices for being leaders and mentors in the mountain biking world.
Our mornings will include yoga sessions and group conversations, followed by lunch and an afternoon of guided and shuttled mountain bike rides on some of Oregon’s best trails. Attendees will have options to choose between a couple different ride options and we’re confident you’ll be happy with the choices provided. Evenings are a time to recharge and do your own exploration.
This is for you if you’d like to
shift the paradigm of the mountain biking world and women’s involvement in it
develop yourself as an authentic and conscious leader
support other female leaders and find more support for yourself
create meaningful impact in your community
ride mountain bikes with other like-minded women (of course!)

GROUP RIDES
+ Tell me about the shuttled group rides
The shuttled group rides will be on Friday and Saturday starting at 1:00. There will be a couple options to choose from, including something mild and something a little more spicy. The groups will natually separate during the rides but they are no-drop, meaning there will be regrouping throughout. This means that regardless of your riding speed or technical abilities, you are going to have a ton of fun exploring these rad trails in Oregon! These rides will be led by badass women who know the trails and are stoked to show them off.
+ Okay, but what if I'm not that fast?
Please join us. Seriously.
+ What if I know I'll be holding the group back?
The goal of these rides is to have fun together doing the thing that brought us together in the first place - riding bikes. Nobody's holding anybody back. JOIN US!!
+ Okay, I'm coming! What do I need to bring?
Make sure your bike is in good working order, that you have sufficient hydration (backpack or fanny pack recomommended), some ride snacks, a flat repair kit and your helmet.
+ Tell me more about the demo bikes
Specialized will have a fleet of demo bikes for attendees to try out. They're on a first-come, first-served basis, though, so don't rely on using one of these for the gathering if you know for sure you want to ride.
Camping and Lodging
+ Do I need to reserve a camping spot at the event?
No need! We have a big field all to ourselves and there will be plenty of camping options. All spaces will be first come, first served.
+ Are camper vans, trailers, or RVs allowed?
Yes. There will be plenty of space for camper vans, trailers, and RVs where we're camping at. There are no hook-ups on-site.
+ Will my family and friends be able to camp with me?
Absolutely. While our morning sessions and guided group rides are for NICA Women's Gathering attendees only, family members (including pets) and friends are welcome to camp with you.
+ Can I camp on-site before or after the gathering has ended?
Not where we're hosting the gathering, but there are other camping options nearby. Check out the Black Canyon Campground just down the street!
+ Are fires allowed?
No. The field we'll be sharing will be primo tinder for fires, so we are not allowing fires (wood, gas, propane) under any circumstances.
+ Are dogs allowed?
Well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome, but we ask that you have outside care for them during the morning sessions.
+ What lodging options are there?
Check out the town of Oakridge and Westfir for lodging. Aside from hotels, there are numerous Airbnb options.
The Westfir Lodge is located across the street from where the NICA Women's Gathering is taking place. In Oakridge, check out the Arbor Inn Motel, Cascade Motel, or the Bluewolf Motel. There are plenty of spacious cabins and cottages to rent through Airbnb, too.
+ What about food? Is there a grocery store?
There's a Ray's grocery store in Oakridge that will have basic necessities. If you're looking to eat out, we recommend Westfir Lodge and the Log Scale Shack Cafe, both directly across the street from the event space (about a 3 minute walk).
Westfir Lodge is open from 12-6pm and has beer, wine, coffee, house-made pierogis, organic mixed green salad, meat and cheese plate, and snacks & drinks to-go.
Log Scale Shack Cafe has a variety of breakfast and lunch/dinner options, like smoothies, burgers, and beer, and is open from 8-6.
+ ...And showers?
The river is a great place to rinse off, but if you're looking for a real shower, go check out the one at the Log Scale Shack Cafe. They're stoked on our event and have been super generous and accommodoating, so please support their business if you're able to!
Family and Friends
+ Will my family be able to join me?
Yes! Oakridge is a magical place and we would love to have your family come and experience all the area has to offer. We have loads of camping space and your family and friends are welcome to stay with you there.
The morning sessions and guided group rides are for NICA Women's Gathering attendees only, but there will be plenty of outside options for your family to enjoy.
+ I'm bringing my kid(s). What can they do while I'm getting rad with other women?
There's a pump track on-site near where the gathering is taking place - perfect for kids of all ages! There's also shallow river to play in and plenty of trails to explore.
Activities
+ What activities does Oakridge have to offer?
Looking for something other than mountain biking? Oakridge and the surrounding area has loads of hiking, kayaking, trout fishing, and floating to enjoy. The river provides much repreive after a long summer's day of activities, and the town has coffee shops, pubs, and restaurants to relax in.
+ What shuttling services do you recommend?
Cog Wild has been running shuttles in the area for years. They also have guides that can lead the way for your group.
Trans Cascadia is another great option for shuttles and is located across the street from where the event will take place.
